Lacoste asked to help paint a vision of its catalog on mobile devices,

through a ground-up redesign of its online experience. It resulted in a double app integrating catalog + lookbook. The navigation was simplified to its core, browsing through the products tree by pinching in and out. Tools like size selector appear on the fly. The motto was, re-introducing the sense of touch to shopping.

I was invited by Designers.MX to create a Tracklist and design the Cover Art. I intended to focus on the progression rather than the cutting edge-ness of the tracks, in a way that would make sense for my little story.
So here we are, Downtown Shanghai, shining at its best, from dusk to sunrise.

Shanghai Year 1

I can’t remember when I fell in love with Shanghai. When I landed last summer, in a taxi flying over the highway to downtown. A sunday of september lost in the alleyways of the French Concession. In a lift to the rooftops, down to the streets running under the rainfalls. Shanghai eructs and splits, Shanghai is not classy, materialistic like a demanding Er Nai. But you can feel it rumbling in your guts, keeping you excited. Shanghai is amazingly alive.

I moved to Shanghai to finally work for French Wineries. For a couple of months now, I do create layouts on a regular basis for high-end French Vineyards in collaboration with Vinium Agency. Working from China, where the wine business grows like crazy, is somewhat amusing. To my French fellows: a basic Bordeaux is 20 to 30 Euros here. Double if you want the real good stuff…

Making-of v.5

This is my 5th portfolio, and the most talkative so far. I added, finally, some contextual informations to each project. I launched the Diary section, more process-oriented, that will showcase non-released stuff, events and making-of. Here is a sum up of the v.5 development, from roughs to final release.

First layout. The usual grid, some navigation sketches and a first mockup on Photoshop:

I built the HTML structure without having actually designed all the details. I fine-tuned the layout during the development. It was way quicker, and gave unsuspected results:

I continued that way and designed the other layouts via the Text Editor:

This website has been made using WordPress as a CMS, my sketchbook and Photoshop for the initial layouts, Mamp for the local website management, and TextMate for the code.

I had to learn everything from scratch for that first HTML website. A major portfolio update.

A temporary random splash page that finally stayed online one year. Designers, you know what I mean.

I dissociated the Days in Day project from 1h05.com, that turned into an online platform for Art experiments.

The Jagged Orbit

I launched The Jagged Orbit as an Illustration experiment, soon after my arrival in China. I wanted, after years of photo/type manipulation, to work on my rusty drawing skills a bit. That’s a long term project. Let’s see where it goes.
